Welcome to Clayfield Wines online we hope you can visit us in person while visiting the beautiful Grampians region in western Victoria. Clayfield Wines is a small boutique winery specializing in the limited production of award winning Premium Grampians Shiraz. When you visit you are greeted by the winemaker Simon Clayfield who will introduce you to some of the finest Shiraz you will ever find. Clayfield Wines was established in 1999, Simon had previous experience with larger wineries since 1986 and decided to plant his own vines at the Moyston property in 1997. Our flagship wine is the Clayfield Grampians Shiraz ‘Black Label’ a fine example inspired by the site perfectly matched to variety and a true expression of Grampians regional Shiraz. The winemaking is done simply and uses traditional principles including using our trusty old hand operated basket press. I don’t mess around with wild yeast fermentations and will not add anything to enhance tannin or colour. In short I believe that if ancient civilizations naturally made wine, drank it and enjoyed it then; then it’s good enough for us now.
Our cellar door is open to all wine lovers, especially those that enjoy a generous Grampians Shiraz. It is advisable to make an appointment call 0429 433 759 in advance. It is essential for groups of more than 6 persons to make a booking 7 days in advance.
